Lots of latency with using guitar plugins with Apollo Twin X

I use Universal Audio amp sims with Apollo and I am fine. But when I use a plugin alliance amp sim, or any other amp sim other than a UA amp sim going thru Apollo, I get a ton of latency. The only tracks I am using are the amp sim and a DI track. No other tracks. What gives?
