Default In Praise Of HD 12.5.2

Sorry if this is really annoying to all those still having problems with Pro Tools 12.5.2.

I've just got to the end of my third week with 12.5.2. A lot of very long days working on huge cinematic Hollywood trailer type noise. Epic numbers of Kontact instances, VE Pro running on the same Mac as Pro Tools and on a slave PC. LOTS VI's and audio tracks, committed tracks etc. I'm pushing it hard in other words.

In three weeks I have not had a single crash. It's been totally, rock solid stable. In over 21 years of using DAWS, I don't think I've used anything this reliable and crash free.

No, I'm not an Avid shill. My record of criticism of Avid is second to none and has led to THREE bans from the DUC. An Avid fan boy I am not! (Apart from the S6!)

The last three weeks though... PT has been an absolute pleasure to use. I never thought I'd be saying that one version ago.

12.4/5 and 12.5.1 I was crashing 6 sometimes 7 times a day. Sometimes more.

When I'm actually celebrating the fact that a particular bug was fixed that was causing the user problems, we're talking about a stable version. One that even works without crashing.

Why take the negative view? Maybe Avid has finally got its act together and the Polish development team is up and running after what must've been a major period of disruption which the majority of people here don't seem to have taken into consideration.

There are plenty of other DAWS out the you can use if PT isn't working out for you. Personally I've stuck with ProTools through thick and thin because I don't like any of the other DAWs and work for more effectively and quickly in Pro Tools.

That said, I still think there are major problems at the corporate, top management level at Avid.

Still have problems, but still have hopes. It took me a year to move to 11 and not rip my hair out, so

unfortunately it's too little too late.

12.5.0 was released a day or two before our support plans expired.

with no time to test it out, we weren't going to spend $900 (2 HD, 1 vanilla) on faith that Avid might get its act together at some point.

and there's certainly no way we're paying $2400 to reinstate the plans.

i don't think i've ever done business with a software company that's infuriated me to this extent.

if/when the corporate BS (e.g. Tony Carriddi's last thread) is put to bed, there's a sincere acknowledgement of past problems, and there's a discounted reinstatement offer, i'll consider reinstating. or they could just send out the dot releases regardless of support status, like they'd originally promised.

short of that, Avid's not getting another penny from me.

This ^ is not support plan but rather Avids lack of supporting its own quality.
......
IMO: Continue the ."dot" updates for expired plans... Just stop the upgrades.
......
On the OP positive note however,
12.5.2 HD HERE in OSX11.5 is working solid in my workflow.
