VENUE 2.9.1 Console Software Update
February 9th, 2011

For VENUE D-Show®, VENUE Profile, VENUE Mix Rack, and VENUE SC48 Systems with VENUE 2.9 Software
VENUE systems running VENUE software version 2.9 can be updated using the free VENUE 2.9.1 update available for download on this page.

Please Note: VENUE systems running version 2.8.5 or earlier must first be upgraded to VENUE 2.9 before applying the VENUE 2.9.1 update. VENUE 2.9 Upgrade Kits are available for purchase from any VENUE reseller.

Who Should Use VENUE Console Software Version 2.9.1?
This update is recommended for all VENUE 2.9 console software users. VENUE 2.9.1 addresses issues discovered after the release of VENUE 2.9, and contains fixes in the following areas:
  • Plug-in processing
  • Firmware
VENUE 2.9.1 also includes all fixes provided previously in VENUE 2.9.

What’s Fixed in VENUE 2.9.1?
The following issues were present in VENUE software versions 2.9 and 2.8.x, and are now fixed in version 2.9.1.

1. Fixed: Noise or No Signal on Output Buses that Contain Plug-Ins and GEQs (Item VSW-5891)
  • On configurations with less than 24 GEQs, Outputs buses that contain both inserted plug-ins and GEQs may not output sig¬nal, or may output noise.
2. Fixed: Forcing a Fader Firmware Download Causes Faders 9–16 to Be Unresponsive on Sidecar, Profile, or SC48 (Item VSW-5948)
  • On systems with VENUE software 2.8.5 or 2.9, forcing a fader firmware download causes faders 9–16 to be unresponsive on D-Show Sidecar control surfaces, Profile control surfaces, or SC48 consoles.

In addition to the above, the following fixes from version 2.9 are included in version 2.9.1.

3. Fixed: Delay Values for Mains Left/Right Channels Are Not Properly Applied (Item VSW-5663)
  • Entering a delay value for the Mains Left/Right busses results in seemingly random values, and it is not possible to enter an exact value.
4. Fixed: When FX Returns 9–16 Are Bank Safed on VENUE Profile, the Hidden Bank Clip LEDs Remain Lit (Item VSW-5739)
  • The Hidden Bank Clip LEDs light for any bank-safed FX Return channels 9–16, even if a hidden channel is not clipping.

Known Issues in VENUE 2.9.1
The following issues are not addressed in version 2.9.1. Where applicable, a workaround has been provided.

1. When Switching Between IP Connection Types (Manual or DHCP), VENUE and/or Pro Tools May Need to Be Restarted to Regain Connectivity (Item VSW-5784)
  • When connecting a VENUE system to a Pro Tools system via Ethernet for VENUE Link and you change the connection type (manually configured IP address to/from DHCP), you may have to restart either the VENUE or the Pro Tools system (or both systems) for the systems to communicate properly with each other.
2. When Switching to a DHCP IP Connection, Two Attempts May Need to Be Made (Item VSW-5784)
  • When switching from a manually configured IP address to DHCP for ECx or VENUE Link, you may need to apply the DHCP settings more than once for your DHCP setting to take effect.
3. Pro Tools Disappears from Devices Page when Console Is Restarted (Item VSW-5799)
  • When a VENUE console is restarted, the connected Pro Tools device icon disappears from the Options > Devices page. Actual connectivity is not affected.
4. On-Screen Graphics Can Be Slow or Sluggish when a VNC (Remote Ethernet Control) Connection Is Active (Item VSW-5580)
  • Controlling a VENUE system remotely using VNC Ethernet control may cause a noticeable slowdown in the on-screen meters and graphics.
  • Workaround: In some cases, this issue can be resolved by re-installing the ECx Ethernet Control host software on the VENUE system. This software can be found on the ECx Ethernet Control CD included with the VENUE system, or it can be downloaded from the following support page of the Avid website: ECx Ethernet Option Software
