Did anyone notice in the photo of Sean Sullivan using a Profile the little controller he has placed above his master faders? I assume its either some kind of MIDI trigger device or a contact closure/GPI controller. What is it and what's its purpose in his setup?

Hi,
It looks to be an X-keys Stick with 16 programmable keys. I'm not exactly sure what he's using it for though - could be to send key commands the Pro Tools computer or another PC nearby. Sheldon |

Wow way to pay attention!! Sheldon is exactly right, I'm using the X-Keys Stick to control the Clair Bros. Laptop that is used for the Dolby Lake I/O's. (Crossover and PA system drive)
The X-stick is a keystroke Macro recorder/player. The Dolby I/O computer is where all my system EQ and Zone level work is done so the X-Stick just makes it easier to do everything on the CPU right in front of me, you can program any Keystroke macro you need and then just hit 1 button on the stick instead of reaching over with two hands. The Profile has changed my game being so compact now i need to control everything with out leaving the hot seat!!! Works in any application on any operating system!!!! |
