I'm sure this is a great plugin, but when I A/B my mixes, it sounds muddy with Phoenix. What is never discussed is "how hard to hit the tape". Since, the peak level of the incoming signal determines the amount of "tape saturation", what is the ideal input level for Phoenix (ie 0db or -12db). Also, I assume the process knob should be set pretty low (ie -5).

Well, for the moment I'm convinced I've been hitting it too hard. Anything that peaks above -6 sounds muddy. Also, the process knob doesn't need to go above -7. The thing sounds good to me............ for now.
Thanks |
