Re: HD vs LE
Yes the old business model is still in place, more Hardware. That only means we wont see a PT software free from the shackles of Avid hardware for a while, probably never. O and wait, another another reason to say avid don't give a f##k about LE or M-powered users they have just added exclusively for HD 'Heat' (Analog warmth and color) emulation, but hey its not standard you still have to pay for it as extra. Only says to me crippling will still exist for LE.
I'm sorry but i only see this as a negative for native PT, meaning that it will always be crippled in some way. HD is here to stay yes, but there is no mention of anything new for PT native software or hardware, maybe still to come but i just don't see it. |

Re: HD vs LE
It's great that you are impatiently waiting for it. You do recognize that putting out a new HD hardware interface does not solve AVID's bigger problems. Sustainability is the name of the game. If they don't start listening to the customer.........Well, we all know where the road leads from here.

They won't have any trouble selling HD hardware and I believe they do listen to their customers, except that those customers aren't you and me but rather the ones with the most dough and therefor the ones who buy HDs IMHO. |
