Default Cant add anything like a limiter

Hi All
Im doing a surround mix and am finding that my HD card processor is up to 100%. This is maning that the system wont allow me to add even a limiter on the main aux mix bus etc etc.

Can anyone advise what I can do to create some capacity, or what ied to be buying to take the load off.
Ive only the 1 hd card, but my system usage id showing plenty of capacity on the voices front.

Cheers

Peter

Yes convert to RTAS is one option!
Audiosuite some of the TDM plugs is another option.

How many voices have you got set per DSP for playback? could it be possible to free-up a chip in the playback settings and use less voices for the session.

If you have a PCI system (not PCIe) you could find a cheap Process card to give you more power.

You could also do your final mix without a limiter and then, limit the mix.

Hi Guys
Good suggestions.

How do you convert say a trim as a plug in to a trim in audiosuite?

Crizdee - Ill look at your suggestion. I think its 96 voices currently, but im not using that many.

Cheers
Peter

Audiosuite/Other and select the gain plug, just adjust the gain plug to match the trim value! double click in the gain filed and type the value in and click process. Voila

If you have lots of separate regions on a track and you want them to remain separate, then select "create individual files" in the pulldown menu. this menu usually defaults to "create continuous file" with create continuous file all the separate files will be joined into one long file.

MM but my trims are automated, ie they travel.
Similarly the eqs move between settings on scene changes as snapshots

well, you can only ausiosuite plugins that don't have automation!! otherwise you'll have to bounce tracks down to a new audio region.

HI Crizdee

If I change the eqs from tdm to rtas, will the automation written be transferred across into the new plug or ae they back to how they started before being automated?
It is done by just re assigning the plug from the available plugs inthe rtas list

They won't lose their automation if you convert them from the menu in the lower right hand corner of the upper toolbar of the plugin GUI.
