When the Aux I/O feature was first added, my most common use was with a VOIP provider called Ring Central. So, I created a new stereo in/out pair and named them RingC. Today, I only use Teams for this, so I've tried to rename them Teams. I can rename the busses in I/O. But I can't figure out how to rename the devices themselves. They're still named RingC in Mac's Audio MIDI Setup. How can I rename them? Here's a screenshot of my Aux I/O page.

There's a text file which contains the names of those devices -- it can be edited. I don't remember its location but someone here will post it. This may be helpful: https://producenewmedia.com/pro-tool...-customization

Thank you! That worked. It's not easy. You have to add yourself to the folder permissions, edit the document shown on the above webpage, and restart. But it worked.

Since I was able to create the busses originally with Aux I/O in Pro Tools, it's a little weird that I can't rename them in the same interface. Maybe they can fix that in a future update. Editing permissions in your Mac Library folder is akin to editing a Windows registry. Sometimes necessary but always risky.

I'm honestly surprised you're unable to edit the names directly within PT. I've not tried (because I changed names in the document when that functionality was first released and haven't changed it since) but it would make a load of sense to have that editable. |
