Default Import Session - Match Trax feature

Hey gang,
I watched a YouTube video of the guy rolling out PT 9 at AES a few weeks ago. Though he made clear that the features of MusProd Toolkit, DV Toolkit2 and DigiTranslator are all wrapped up into ProTools 9 (and he mentions that BEFORE talking about PT9 HD) when he goes on to list the 'features' of each he doesn't mention if the Import Session Data with the Match Tracks button is in the NON HD version. Or if that functionality only comes with the HD version or non HD + Complete Production Toolkit.

In the old days -- when I sold my HD system for an LE that feature was one I very much needed and had to buy DV Toolkit 2 (for $900!!!!!) to get that aspect of the Import Session Data functionality. In short the absence of that functionality was part of what made it Limited Edition (LE).

Though I'm an HD1 rig owner again (couldn't live without that TDM 2 mix buss) my son just bought an MBox3 as basically a 'DONGLE' to open PT sessions for compatibility though he works exclusively in LOGIC. And though I think he'll get an amnesty upgrade to PT 9 we need to know if he'll have Import Session Data/Match tracks capability without the Complete Production Toolkit 2? Or only WITH IT.

Anybody know?

Oh by the way... YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!! THANK YOU AVID for this OPEN platform!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I am doing a happy dance as I know MANY of us are. And that new iLok... Oh man.......... NOW I can REALLY mix on the plane... Now the last thing -- and I doubt they'll be able to 'listen to the customer' on this one........ We want their TDM-only plugs - ported over to RTAS. That's a vestige from an older time when CPU's couldn't handle processing as efficiently as their TDM chips. That is NO longer the case - at all. So - a man can DREAM - can't he? I just can't live without ReVibe, Drawmer Dynamics and MasterX3.

Thanks for the quick response. And you verified this where? I have read all their printed material - but in the past the DV Tookits used to say 'advanced session import'. None of the PT 9 materials I've read says that.. I just want to be sure. Can you point me to a link. Or are you an Avid rep and can assure me?

Default Re: Import Session - Match Trax feature

After spending some time poking around today. I found this list of the Complete Production Toolkit 2's feature set that it adds to the PT9 (non HD) stock version. The list below (see my highlighting in red) clarifies that the Enhanced Import Session Data features (match tracks button) do NOT come stock in the PT9 stock version -without adding the Complete Prod Tookit 2.

Quote:
Complete Production Toolkit 2

Session expansion for Pro Tools music and post production With the Complete Production Toolkit 2 option, you can expand your Pro Tools 9 capabilities to create, edit, and mix large music and post-production projects—and collaborate more easily with Pro Tools|HD users on your own mobile rig—without compromising session information.

Easily exchange sessions with Pro Tools|HD users
Whether you’re collaborating with others or taking studio projects home with you, you can easily transfer sessions back and forth—even surround sound projects—and edit and mix sessions, regardless of the Pro Tools platform they were created on, through improved session interchange.

Double or 64x your tracks
Tackle large music productions and have the capacity to wrangle together the dozens of dialog bits, sound elements, effects, music, and video that go into a film or video project by expanding your track counts. Get up to 192 simultaneous audio playback tracks (or voices—up from 96), 512 total audio tracks (up from 256), 128 instrument tracks (up from 64), and 64 video tracks (up from one), enabling you to take on the most complex projects.

Mix more easily with VCA groups

For complex sessions with lots of automation, create VCA groups to get another layer of gain control over groups that already have automation. And, unlike with region groups, you’ll also be able to solo and mute channels within a VCA group independently—without affecting the other tracks—enabling you to work faster and more easily with grouped items.

Mix in 7.1 surround

Add movement to your mixes beyond the standard stereo field—in up to 7.1 surround sound. You can monitor surround mixes directly through the outputs of your preferred audio interface, or use the included Neyrinck SoundCode Stereo plug-in to monitor surround sound in stereo.

Expand your post capabilities

Work with sound for picture even easier with expanded audio editing, video editing, and automation tools. If you’re familiar with the advanced post-production features in Pro Tools HD software, these added features and tools provide a seamless transition between Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools 9.
  • Replace Region and Edit to Timeline Selection commands
  • Scrub Trim Tool
  • Export Session Info as Text
  • Continuous scrolling
  • Video Universe window
  • Automation snapshots
  • Automation trim mode
  • Preview
  • Auto-match
  • Back and play
  • Glide
  • Enhanced Import Session Data features
Stretch and compress time and pitch...etc..
