Default Izotope RX11 Special Editor AAX won't install correctly.

I just got Pro Tools Intro +. It came with the Avid Link set of apps and plugins. One of them, The Izotope RX11 Special Editor AAX ver 161.03941-0 won't install correctly. Active link installs it but when finished, the app status reverts back to uninstalled. It looks to be in the installed apps list in Win11 setup. But every time I turn on the pc, the app wants to reinstall via Avid Link. I've turned off VPN and virus software and tried manual install with no change of this problem. I contacted Avid support and was told the support for this product is the Community blog. Has anyone had an issue with this software like this? I'm installing it on a Win 11 pc. Thanks

If you look around you can see that we all have this issue and it will be improved and one day it will be hopefully fixed.

Hi Welcome to DUC.

Avid Link is not a "set of apps or plugins". It is a sometimes badly behaved installation manager, it's just poorly implemented bloatware/crapware to me. Many of us uninstall it after installing Pro Tools.

I would argue you are much better off uninstalling Avid Link and going to your Avid.com account "My Products" section and manually downloading and running the installers there.

I have no idea if RX 11 has other installer problems on Windows unrelated to Avid Link, that may be what inspire is saying, I'm not sure. But you are not off to a good start if you are using Avid Link.

You can find past posts on DUC by searching with Google with the site:duc.avid.com qualifier, vBulletin built in search is next to useless.

For me Avid Link just works well! At the moment only RX Spectral Editor issue remains: it says that Version 11.1.0 needs installation, but the latest as we all know is actually Version 11.2.0 and it won't install even 11.1.0 correctly!
Avid Link is the good starting point, where I get info that something new is released to install. For example just right now I installed Steinberg SpectraLayers and Steinberg WaveLab Go new/latest versions without any problem! I hope it will fixed with the next release!

Doh, so it may be *that* frigging problem.

Discussed here: https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=430378

ChiliNgrits -- make sure you have the same issue as discussed there, there is a workaround listed in that thread to make it less of a hassle. Yes Avid badly needs to fix that embarrassing bug.

We'll have to disagree about Avid Link. I've seen enough issues with it I would never use it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I did download the RX11 Special Editor installer, removed the current version and re-ran the install manually. The Avid Link still doesn't recognize it though. I still get install access permission messages daily when Avid automatically starts the install again. I guess I'll uninstall the Avid Link, I have to assume its not needed now that Pro Tools Intro and the extra items have been installed.

Thanks again

I think a much better idea is to ignore this installation message and wait for a fixation.
But I think if there is no fix in the next release, then I will ask my yearly fee back from Avid…

I hear you on hoping a fix comes through as opposed to removing the software. But Ignoring the install prompt doesn't work very well. I find that it I do that or cancel the install, the message just keeps reoccurring throughout the day.

If you are stuck you might be better off asking questions in that other thread with folks who seem to have some work arounds.
