“expansion pack” is a firmware 2.x update to the Eleven Rack hardware. You don’t do anything with “expansion pack” and Pro Tools. You only install it on an actual Eleven Rack box.
The Eleven Mk II plugins provide the same amp and cab simulations as an Eleven Rack with 2.x firmware. So you just use those in Pro Tools if you want the equivalent. Eleven Mk II and the Eleven Rack based effects pedals plugins are included in the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle, which is included with Pro Tools Ultimate and Studio subscriptions and annual support/update plans. You will have to check yourself what comes with Intro and Artist. |

OK, that has nothing to do with Pro Tools.
I understand Avid no longer sells the Expansion Pack. You can still download the installer but I understand Avid will not sell expansion pack licenses, but you can always try to ask Avid. The Expansion pack has lots of problems installing on modern systems and required older web browsers etc. etc. There are multiple knowledge base posts including this one: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...ledge/en394771 and threads on DUC about problems people had doing that update. I am not surprised that Avid would want to stop supporting the update. The way to do this is just buy an Eleven Rack with firmware 2.0.1, which is not what you will want to hear. A firmware 2.01 Eleven Rack are worth around US$200-US$250 in good condition, a firmware 1.x Eleven Rack would be worthless to me. But folks buy them unaware of the difference. And what would Avid have to charge for a modern supported expansion pack? They used to cost around US$100? Just give up and buy another Eleven Rack. You should also make sure you are not buying a rev E unit. There were clock problems with Rev E units and they should be just avoided at all costs (The revision is the last letter on the serial number on the white label on the rear-panel). |

The serial number, your photo is a "Rev C" unit.
Rev E units had problems with components in their clock circuits where the Eleven Rack would stop producing audio, but might work at some sample rates and not others. I can't remember the details but they are all buried on DUC. |

Is the code number circled in GREEN where you would look for the "E" at the end? Or the serial number circled in BLACK, where the C is at the end? Which one should i be looking for - Serial number or the smaller code at the bottom? Just to clarify, if it ends with an "E" avoid it? Thank you. |
