in earlier versions of PT they were in different locations but current instruction is to dump the whole pt folder to trash prefs and databases, something i havent done in the past
I can answer that, and the answer is yes. We still routinely delete database files (though I still use the original version of PT Prefs out of habit) and it occasionally fixes odd things happening in PT. Not often -- typically the culprit is something else -- but it's easy enough to do that it's part of our routine.

Yes, as Eric says, deleting databases is non-detrimental APART from if you have any custom Workspace databases. They will be deleted. Most people use external Sound FX database software but bear this in mind.
