Default How much worse are the 001 coverters than those on the 888/24?

Can anyone tell me an answer to this for sure? I have heard a few different things.
Thanks

Quite significant difference. the 001's are
very thin comparatively. I have had much better results using my ADAT XT20 as converters which sound way better to me.
maybe look into some external convertors for
better results!

I love the converters in the Presonus Digimax and it give an additional 8 inputs via lightpipe. Best investment I ever made.

Night and day difference between the two.

I've been tracking bands with the 001 for a year or so. Finally got a TDM rig to work with. We bouht an 888/24 and a 1622 to go with that system. The 888 definitely sounds better (than the 1622 and the 001.) Balanced XLR's v. TRS can't make that big of a difference. The 888 definitely has to have different converters without a doubt.

Lucky has the answer go with the digimax, it's great for live stuff also...

I don't know the facts, but I do know that I hear a big difference between the 001 and the 882/20.

Somehow I missed which has better converters: 001 or 882/20? I must be blind to the post that says it...

I think it was pretty clear that the 888/24 has WAY better converters than the 001.

I think the comparison was with the 882/20.

Cheers,

Mike

When it first came out, I recall something being said about a digi engineer making the comparison. Something about the Digi001 converters comparing favourably to the 882/20. I think the text used to be on the old Digi001.com site. However, spec (S/N, dynamic range etc) and sound are very different beasts. I haven't used an 882 so can't comment on the latter.

The 888/24's have far superior converter specifications.

Cheers,

Mike
