Synchronic or Live
Has anyone used Synchronic? Does it work well? Is it useful?
I've been using Ableton Live for building drum tracks out of sample loops and it works pretty well. Are the two comparable? Seems like it by the description. Thanks. |

Re: Synchronic or Live
Personally I think they're very diferent beasts. Both work kinda from a DJ perspective but that's about all they have in common realy.
Synchronic is imho capable of doing more wacky stuff ... more DJ as if you were behind a set of turntables .... stabs / scratches / filter sweeps etc ... The 'downside' about Synchronic , even with the new drag and drop features in PT 7 is that your original loop or sample has to be at the same sample rate as the session you're working in...... Well .... unless you're happy with the pitch / tempo problems that come with it.

Re: Synchronic or Live
I used synchronic recently on a re-mix and thought it was great...
I do wonder whats going to happen now that PT7.0 can use .REX files directly. Synchronic does the same thing as .REX (chopping up a loop into small slices in real time to allow for seamless tempo changes), but uses its own .TFX file format... |
