Valid Audio Drive (hard drive issue) MacPro / HD3
I've installed 3 SATA drives into the open trays of my Mac Pro. The first one, a 300GB, is intended for audio.
I'm unable to open any sessions from that drive (or any other, for that matter) because the message says it is not a valid audio volume. I've gone into the WORKSPACE window in Pro Tools and have tried to change the selection (it is "T" for transfer) to Record but I keep getting the same message that says the drive(s) cannot be designated as an Audio Record volume because it is not a valid audio drive. I've run Disk Utility, repartitioned the drive as an Apple Partition Map. No luck. Don't understand why the WORKSPACE window won't allow me to change the drive from Transfer to Record. BTW - the drive is a SEAGATE SATA I 7200RPM 16MB HD Thanks. bob |

Re: Valid Audio Drive (hard drive issue) MacPro / HD3
Hi,
From the desktop, right click on the drive and go to get info, then go to ownership and permissions, make sure all access fields are set to read and write. You might need to log out or re-boot the mac before it will take effect. Let us know if that helped. Chris

Hi Chris,
Yeah, I tried that. Verified disk as well. No luck. Got an email in to Digi tech support. Hopefully they'll reply someday soon. Thanks for your suggestion. Appreciate it. And, when I find the solution, I'll post. bob. |

Re: Valid Audio Drive (hard drive issue) MacPro / HD3
right you are...
Spoke to ProAxess @ Digidesign. Very helpful. I needed to uninstall PT and do a reinstall. Apparently DIGI would not allow the firewire system transfer from my Dual G4 to my new Mac Pro. The 10 minutes / $30 for this info from Digi was definitely worth it. Thanks. |
