Audio files disappeared from the session, lost day worth of work
Everything went well during the day, saved every now and then, and also had the autosaves going on.
Suddenly zooming out I notice 90% of the audio clips are gone. There are some random clips still visible but most of them gone. I open last autosave. Same thing there. Same thing with all other saves from today, even though everything was fine when each of those saves were made. Opening a session I get tons of these: "Fade out "" at 163:58.160 on playlist "Audio 5_L" is invalid because its left contributor is a fade." Apparently this exact same thing has happened to some of us since 2005: https://gearspace.com/board/avid-pro...iles-help.html Anyone ever found a way to somehow save a project like this? I'm on 2021.3.1 and OS X 10.15.7. |

Re: Audio files disappeared from the session, lost day worth of work
Sounds like this issue: https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=405902
The 'random' clips on the timeline are basically all the clips that have been adjusted after the corruption took place. I think the automation should still be intact. The way to fix it takes a lot of manual labor by merging the automation and the surviving clips of the corrupted session with the last known good session. AFAIK it is still unclear how this is happening. |

Backup everything - often - to multiple drives. Really scary that this kind of thing is still happening!

Re: Audio files disappeared from the session, lost day worth of work
Yes, that other thread described exactly same issue.
This is insane, a bug this serious has been around for 17 years!! What makes this so devastating is that it also affects .ptx files that were created while everything was still working and looking ok. Project gets corrupted way before you can see the clips disappearing - so you end up saving "infected" backups without knowing it! I was able to redo the lost work in couple of hours, so not a total disaster, but man did it make me paranoid! Now I have to keep saving with new name all the time, and keep auto backup files visible to see if the file size changes... Nice one Avid! |
