Cursor and Midi playback freeze - audio continues

This happens intermittently, but sometimes quite often. During playback, the cursor in the edit window (and the transport counter) freeze, but the audio keeps playing. If there is a midi track in the session, midi playback also freezes. Usually, after a few seconds, the cursor jumps forward to the correct position and simultaneously all the midi notes that were missed are played all at once (midi fart!). From this point, playback continues as it should and the audio has never skipped a beat. Until a few more seconds later when another freeze happens and the process starts all over. Restarting the computer 'usually' helps, but the problem eventually returns.

Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo
>1GB Ram
MBox 2
PT 7.1.1

NOW the real question:
All I have is a bluetooth mouse - Is this the problem? I've read many times SINCE my purchase that Bluetooth power should be "off", but unless/until I get another mouse, I have no choice.

ANOTHER real question;
What's the deal PT non-compatibility with Bluetooth, Airport, other cool features? What's the point of upgrading to a new computer, if I can't use all of these great new capabilities 'cuz of PT?
