Default iTunes/Toast question

I'm running OS 9.2.2
I just installed Toast with Jam, but now anytime I download and try to play an mp3 of any kind, I get an error message "This version of iTunes requires OSX". Same with any song I wish to playback from the iTunes library (when I'm not in iTunes itself).

I tried to get QuickTime to be the default media player but can't seem to set it that way in the preferences (where you usually checkmark the various file types - ie: wav, aiff, mp3, etc.)

Perhaps someone has experienced this same thing and can help me out? Thanks!

We have Toast and Jam and do not experience these problems. Make sure youa re trying to launch the OS9 version of iTunes, not the OSX version.

Reinstall your OS9 itunes.

To play an MP3 in Quicktime, simply drag-drop the MP3 on the Quicktime application icon, or from the Quicktime menu, file-open.

Hope this is helpful.

Do you mean that you can not play mp3's w/quicktime? Is that your question?

Put a quicktime alias on your desktop. If you drop the mp3 on the quicktime alias, what happens?

What where said is probably what is happening to you. Make sure you're using iTunes 2.0.4 in OS 9.2.2. iTunes 3 does indeed require OS X to run...

Default Re: iTunes/Toast question

I just checked the version and it's 1.1!?!
Thing is, I can run iTunes, that's not a problem (although the interface has that OSX/aqua look), it's when I download a sample to preview, it ends up on my desktop, with a pink mp3 icon, it's when I click on it, it comes up with that error message. Is there not a way to set up QT as the default media player w/o having to drag the files to it's icon?

thanks for all your replies.

(p.s. I am still relatively new to Macs, I appreciate your patience)

I just downloaded iTunes 2.0.4 and that seems to have fixed the problem.
Thanks again.
