Default Running Pro Tools LE 6.4 on OS X 10.3.9

I have an iBook G3, 600 mhz, 256 kb ram. I ran PTLE 5.2 on OS 9.2 for years, then finally switched to OS X, upgraded to Panther and PTLE 6.4. Things were running pretty smoothly. I was able to record 4 or 5 tracks and mix them down with numerous plugins without any problems. Recently, however, I updated to OS X 10.3.9 via software update. Since then, I have beaucoup problems when trying to mixdown as few as 2 tracks with minimal plugins or bouncing to disk. My playback engine is set to 1024 samles, 85% CPU usage, and level 1 buffer. Is there anything else I can do to increase efficiency/performance, short of reinstalling OS X and going back to 10.3.6?

Thanks for your help.

Short of reinstalling, maybe try downloading the standalone 10.3.9 Combo Updater from Apple and run that first.

If you do decide to reinstall OS X, use the standalone Combo Updater for the last supported version of Panther relevant to your hardware.

Whichever way you go, lose 10.3.6! It was a poisonous version, and not just with PTLE.
