The 002's never were built with focurite pres, so there's no way for them to be "still" built with them.

The preamps are of a design proprietary to digidesign. No one makes them for Digi. They are remarkably clean and clear...and in some instances, too hot. Sonically, to my ears they are very similar to the TRUE Systems preamps found in the Precision 8.

i really want to know how good are those preamps....do u think it is good enough to record with a neumann tlm193 without using a preamp....and then later brign it to a big studio to run each track through the outboard gear

based on the Digi Pre, based on does not mean the same. they are clean and you could say boring if using a clean mic aswell as they are so clean some realy like them for classical recordings. often to hot with condensers and a lound source like drums. they certainly arnt the best pres around but they are very usable atleast untill you can save up for high end pres. you cant expect them to be high end pres when the price of a 002r is less than a single great pre but dont fear them as being low quality you just have to know them and how/where to use them.

ummm..... WHY....... THis makes no sense... Why would you want to do this?

Also, your post makes no sense with the TLM-193, record it without a preamp and then shoot it through later at a big studio.

Recording the TLM-193 using the 002 pre's would obviously work. Would it sound better into a better pre, sure. Depends on the perfomance, etc, but usually yes. Just because yo have a stellar mic does not make it a stellar performace.

Just did not make sense.

So on this same note . . . the MBox does have Focusrite pre's. So would the pre's on my MBox be better than those on my Digi002? Particularly for vocals?
thanks
