Default Installing SCSI on a G4, Help!

Hi
Is there a set of instructions for installing a scsi on a g4?
Trying to install ATTO w /9gig Cheetah .
**update** We managed to get through all our problems.
The ATTO needed firmware updating then we had to format the with ATTO's software. A bit complicated since we couldn't boot the G4 with the Cheetah hooked to it. We solved by installing ATTO software on our old machine (very silly to have to do this) with Cheetah on that.**
We need to be able to install to a G4 not have a extra computer around just to accomplish the format amd driver load!
Any help would be wecome.
Thanks

Not exactly sure about what you're trying to do, but if you're using this system for a Digidesign set up, your internal drive should remain as your boot drive, with the external drive on the ATTO dedicated to audio files.

I am also curious about this. Do you have to change the SCSI number to keep it from being the startup drive? The Cheetah I just bought is defaulted to SCSI 0.

Also, are there any sites online that go over how to install a SCSI drive to a MP G4? I'm not sure how to connect to HD to a power source.

Thanks.

Thanks for the Responce.
Just instaling the PCI card w/a drive attached causes The G4 to automatically selects the SCSI device as the bootable device.
or
because the SCSI drive is not formatted it will not boot up(Stops it from booting from the ATA)?????
I can boot from CD but What do you do then?
Thanks

I think SCSI ID #0 should usually be reserved for the host card.

If using the Startup Disk Control Panel doesn't want to work, place the System and Finder in separate levels on the disk you don't want to start from. In other words, create a folder named something like 'system goes in here' and put the System file in it.

The System folder's icon will turn generic and the computer won't start from it.
