Default "you do not have appropriate access (-5000)"

PT 9.0.6 on a Macbookpro laptop 10.7.5. recording to external My Passport drive, 003 i/o
error
You do not have appropriate access privileges (-5000) while creating "rehearsal" while creating "audio files"

a simple 4 track session 16b/ 44.1k records fine all day ..no editing
next day session opens plays back fine but won't record...i get the (-5000) error.

searched the web ..and forum..lots of posts but no solution for me yet.

i checked disk privileges i have them ..gave all listings (3) R/W ..the "ignore ownership" is checked but grayed out.

went to disk utility repaired disk permissions though the ext drive was not selectable

checked my workspace ..all good..no round robin
checked disk allocation both Mac HD and Passport are R drives
checked individual file permissions CMD I..i have them.
tried unlocking the drive
rebooted holding N ..no affect..(though did help with I/O selection, handy tip)

copied session with all audio files to the same drive which let me record again...wont know till tomorrow if I/ll lose access again.

any ideas what to try next?

thanks in advance for you help.

Default Re: "you do not have appropriate access (-5000)"

one other thing i just tried was trashing the Digidesign Databases from my Mac HD and from the Passport and trashed volumes from library/ap support/digidesign/unicode/databases folder.

volumes reappeared on reboot and PT relaunch...the Digidesign Databases did not....PT works though.

were they reminants of my PT 8 install?

in any event no cure to the (-5000) problem. hope i didnt wreck anything
