helping a friend with his new PTLE rig.
installing a second IBM deskstar ATA drive for his audio drive, but can't for the life of me figure out how to "terminate" it.... or make it the "slave" to the main drive's "master". i know i need to pop in some jumpers to do the job, but it came with no manual, and their website is useless... anyone have a easy way for me to make this new drive a slave?? kind regards, tom. |

The IBMs should have a graphic right on the drive that shows the correct jumper position. If not, I'd call their tech support line. I just did that for a Western Digital drive that came with no clue, and I had the info in less than five minutes. Of course, it might take a little longer to penetrate the outer walls of Big Blue...

Call IBM find what jumpers you need to slave the drive. Install it in the computer, you dont need to buy anything els "It comes with a place to put a second drive". Turn on the computer open apple drive setup and format the drive. It should pop up on your desktop.
