Default Window Configurations

What I'm trying to do is open up all my Pro Tools projects with the same window configurations. I'm able to save the current configuration, Pro Tools spanned across 3 monitors. Monitor 1-Main Project Monitor 2- Midi Editor Monitor 3-Mixer. Coming from Nuendo and Cubase, it was just a matter of pressing Alt + Pad1. When i open up a different or new project, the window configuration i saved it gone.

Can someone please let me know if im doing something incorrectly, or the correct way to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance

-Demane

Store it in your Template or simply import it from any session that has it.

Import Session Data/check the Window Config box in the lower left corner.

Right. IOW, Window Configs are saved with the session, they're not global prefs. You can also save multiple Configs per session, which can be very handy for those of us still living in the dark ages of only two monitors. It might even be handy with 3. You could have three WinConfigs such that you could have any of the three main working windows in the center monitor. They can be recalled using Memory Locations, so you could, e.g., have .1. bring Edit to the center monitor, .2. bring MIDI to the Center, and .3. bring Mix to the center. Save that in a template use it as your starting place for each session.

Great, a little different than what I'm used to, but it works and that's all that matters.

I really appreciate the insight...

Thanks

Also, after adjusting your window settings to taste, you can then right-click on PT in the taskbar and choose "close" instead of the usual "file -> exit." Doing this will save your window configuration. Try it.

Hope that helps as well.
