Default Generating Timecode With LE

Hey guys,

I need to generate 24, 25, 29.97 (d & nd) & 30 (d & nd) timecode within LE. I'm pretty sure it can be done if I purchase DV Toolkit & an (as yet) unspecified outside 'box'(!)

Anyone doing this already?

Absolutely ANY help would be very much appreciated...

All the best, Patsy

I should also add that said TC needs to go to a DAT/Hard Disk/BETA SP/mini DV machine...

i believe the best you can hope for is to generate TC using DVtoolkit ... session setup TC settings for more ... get something like a MOTU MTP AV that will convert MIDI timecode to LTC .... there you go ...

Thanks John1192, that's where I'm at also...

Anyone actually doing this? How reliable is the conversion?

All the best, Patsy

Hello. Yes the way to do it on LE is to get the DV Toolkit, hook it up to an MTC converter and voila. Another way to do it is with this plug in, the BWF Timecoder from One-N. Good luck.

Did you figure it out? I have the same question how do you generate smpte timecode in protools le to bounce to cd, dat and beta. Also does any one know how to mix that timecode to center channel that is not audable, but just in the track, as well as hard panned to one side for audable smpte timecode. Thanks

No need for DV toolkit.

PT LE will generate MTC out of the box, look in your session setup window.

All you need to do is convert this to LTC. The best (but expensive) solution for this is a Rosendahl Nanosyncs, this is essentially a Sync I/O for an LE rig. Clock for whatever situation you find yourself in can be handled, and the MTC/LTC convertor interfaces directly with the computer via USB.

DV toolkit only adds the timecode ruler in the edit window, this of course is useful in high pressure situations, but is not necessary to get the job done providing you're careful.
