Default Plug-in latency

Hi. Can't ever seem to find what I want using the search facility. I know I've seen posts on this before.

Some of my tracks with plug-ins are showing latency of between 64 and 128 ( samples? milliseconds? ). Is this amount of latency generally acceptable or should I be compensating somewhere?

Latency is uaually measured in samples. The simplest thing to do is highlight the track ALMOST all the way to the start, and use Alt-H and type in 64 or 128 in the samples box. The reason for going almost is that if you select an entire track from time 00:00:000, it has no where to move earlier as it is already at the wall, so to speak. 64 and 128 samples are miniscule amounts when you consider there are 44,100 samples in a single second using the 44.1K sample rate(worst case). the average musician has worse timing so trust your ears. If it sounds good, it is good. Of course, if it sounds bad.....its because the band sucks.
