it doesn't really help with the measurement, but it might help him with the task . . . never tried it myself, but maybe this ?

I've never tried this one either. I did mess with MV2 for awhile, which looks similar, but never really took to it. We had things working for a long time with the original template I set up for him before ACX started getting more strict with their QC. I altered the template and added a bit more compression and limiting which should help keep him closer to spec.

It's not a metering plugin but FabFilter Pro-L does a integrated, momentary and other loudness metering work. Not cheap and they're due to have a Black Friday sale shortly.

MV2 can significantly raise any underlying low-level noise too if that lower slider is engaged (hiss, AC, breathing, etc), which can be problematic if he's not recording in a dead-quiet space.
Vocal Rider however creates dynamic fader moves based on the actual recorded audio - which does not have the same effect on the general low-lying noise.

The FabFilter gear is generally top-notch in the plug-in world.
