HDX with Core Audio / iTunes
Greetings,
I'm new to HDX, migrating from HD2 Accel on PT10 Mavericks. On my previous rig I used to enjoy occasionally listening to my iTunes library of music through my Pro Tools interface using the "Avid CoreAudio Device" setting for the Mac audio. Now, when I try to do the same thing on my HDX system, I set the Mac Sound output to "HDX", bring up iTunes, it plays through my HD I/O, but it's all messed up, drop outs, clicks and pops. Then I find I need to reboot the system to go back to using the HDX card for Pro Tools. I'm on a 5,1 Mac Pro with Mojave, PT 20121.6. Can this work at all using HDX...?

Re: HDX with Core Audio / iTunes
Something worng with your setup, need to double check one by one. First of all your sig 2009 Mac Pro 5,1 does not exist, it was 4,1 in 2009 and if you have 5,1 it has been flashed. There is one possible cause for problems, but unlikely.
Most likely problem would be OS that has been in-situ upgraded to new version, and easy solution would be to do a clean install and test again.

Re: HDX with Core Audio / iTunes
Correct, 2009 flashed to 5,1. This was a brand new clean install of Mojave on a new internal PCIe SSD. I was having the same issue on a separate clean install of Mojave on an SATA SSD where I have 2021.3.1 installed. If there are troubleshooting steps to take, or settings I should look at, I would love to know what those are. Thanks

Re: HDX with Core Audio / iTunes
What is the sample rate set to in Audio MIDI setup for the Avid Core Audio HDX? if it isn't 44.1 or 48, set it to one of those.

Re: HDX with Core Audio / iTunes
Thanks, I actually checked that earlier today after my first message. The sample rate in Audio Midi was set to 192. Changing it to 44.1K and switching the output to HDX then worked much better playing songs from iTunes. However, every 30 seconds or so there are still little glitches and clicks.

Re: HDX with Core Audio / iTunes
Clicks usually mean clocking problem, is there anything else in your setup besides solo interface?
