Default Midi Latency Issue - Please help me someone

Hello all. Even though I've been using ProTools LE for the past few years, I've never really got into the midi side of things. So tonight, for the first time, I hooked up my Microkorg to the mbox, inserted an instrument track with Xpand and started triggering notes. However there seems to be a slight delay between my finger hitting the keys and the soft synth responding. It is microseconds, but noticeable and offputting when playing. I looked through guide and it only gives tips on rectifying midi latency after it has been recorded.

I'm using ProTools 8 on Windows XP.

Does anyone please have any advise?

Have you checked your hardware buffer settings? These apply to midi controllers just like they do to audio. The lower the setting, the better.

I am having the exact same problem, and I have reduced my latency, which helped little if at all. It is infuriating, because the problem exists with both my midi keyboard and dedicated Roland GI2 midi converter and GK3 pickup-- which cost a bundle, and is near useless to me if I can't trigger software sounds in real time.

Everything is running on a super-fast PC with Vista.
