Ya does not seem very likely we will see any discount on the Carbon ..Given that there is a reasonable chance it could cost Avid $2k or more, to make it ..... Also given that throwing in an Ultimate license does not cost Avid anything, and just might get them an annual re-up revenue ... There is little business incentive to loose profit margin on the price of the hardware ..

2 weeks ago, quite nobody, including me, thought that they would get the PT Ultimate license gift on their account !! Avid anyway will probably end this license promo gift soon.

The cutoff date is Sept 15th but I think I saw a post that hinted at AVID continuing this Ultimate promo or perhaps making it a permanent thing (I forget exactly what it said). I think that would be a smart thing to do on their part as it would reel in a lot of people who might not be willing to shell out $2600 up front but would be willing to shell out $400 a year to keep Ultimate current. I definitely fall into that category.

That would not surprise me for them to continue to offer Ultimate with Carbon
In the past they included HD software with virtually all HD Hardware purchases. When I got my HD Native card, in late 2010,, HD software came included and I have kept it re-up'ed every year since ...
