sampletank issue
I downloaded Sampletank free.
I downloaded all the free sounds. I put them in the correct folder as directed. I created an aux track, insterted ST interface. I loaded a free sound in the Sampletank interface. Created a midi track, but in the midi output menu, there is no Sampletank option to buss to (only QT, IAC, 001, etc.) So, I'm getting midi signal, but no sound from ST. What am I overlooking?

Re: sampletank issue
Its a mac. Shouldnt you have to fiddle around with OMS?

As for the problem itself. The actual patch names themselves show up in the midi menu, not sampletank itself. You have to load a patch into sampletank first, then it shows up in the midi menu. Also, due to the annoying nature of RTAS plug-ins needing an input to get sound out of them, you need to add an input to the aux tracks to actually hear sampletank when you're playing midi into it. To do this it's pretty simple. 1. create another aux track, name it 'dummy' or whatever. 2. set the input of this track to any available input and the output to a stereo bus you're not using. 3. leave the fader at -inf and mute the aux track. This 'dummy' track gives you a fake input for the aux that's got the sampletank plug-in on it. 4. Assign the input of the aux with sampletank on it to the stereo bus pair you used for the output of the 'dummy' track. Hope this doesn't sound too confusing. When you've done it once you'll just used to doing everytime you add RTAS synths to a session. |

Re: sampletank issue
Thanks John, but I actually figured it out last night. I did a search and it had to do with how you select the sounds from the ST Instruments folder (root+choose from ST interface). Though I appreciate your response, your procedure does seem like mork work and headache than needed.
Bastiaan, nice move but for one, no OMS needed for ST and no more OMS in OSX, and if that were not enough....it's not a PC!
