Mbox 2 core audio driver/midi port 3 (control)

Hi guys...i got some questions...

My system is
Powermac G5 dual 2.7 Mac Osx tiger 10.4.2
8GB Ram
Digi 002
Pro tools LE 7.0 (Web installer)
Korg Kontrol 49

question 1
After the installation i've noticed that both the digidesign core audio driver and the mbox 2 core audio driver are installed on my g5.Is that normal??

question 2
In the audio midi setup the digi 002 icon has an additional port labeled "port 3 (control)" with one midi in and one midi out.What is this??
