Could I ask you to not use the "001" when referring to the original mbox? The 001 is a separate Digidesign product, and not related at all to the mbox. It's can be very confusing if you mis-represent them, even in just the subject field.

The tokens issue is from the MCU. Read this support article.

You are using the External drive for Pro Tools audio sessions? Your external drive is a USB drive. USB drives are not supported or recommended for use as audio session drives.

when you mention the '82 byte tokens' error that makes me think of this which mentions a problem when using HUI control surfaces - which you are.

Do you get that error every time? Try that and see what happens - or else try running the same session without the controller.

Also, I am not sure if you are running audio sessions from your external drive but USB isn't officially supported for doing so.

Post back if you have any luck with the solution above.
