Default ASIO device properties error for a noob

GAHHHHHHHHH, look guys, I am a musician, not a computer techie. I got Pro Tools 10 to record music, and now I am doing no music while trying to make a computer program stable.
I am using Pro Tools 10 on Windows 7 with a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56. I am getting the ASIO device properties changed error message. I have seen much discussion of this problem in a lot of threads, but I am just not tech-savvy enough to understand the fixes that people are proposing for it. Could someone please, please, please walk me, in plain English, through the things I should be doing to my system to clear up this issue? It's starting to be so frustrating that I want to ditch PT forever.

go into your device manager in windows. Go to sound and audio section. Right click on the HD sound driver (the one that is not from Avid, maybe realtek, sound blaster etc..) and choose to disable it. Make sure the Avid sound driver is set to the default device, and restart the computer.

Hell to the no! Making the interface the default Windows device will not make it work better with Pro Tools, only worse.

If the Saffire has been selected as the default Windows device, go deselect it now.

1. Remain calm - just a few tweaks, really !!!
2. Make sure you use an AVID approved Firewire card with a TI chipset.
3. Do each and every step here:http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...411?popup=true
4. Install the latest version of Mix Control (not the one that shipped on the install CD): http://global.focusrite.com/firewire...e-56/downloads
5. As of Mix Control 3.0 and up, note that: "No longer requires use of Windows legacy Firewire driver" as explaned on Focusrite site.
6. More good info here: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/...ory.php?id=123

I've done it all. Still nothing. I guess I should just return the program. I have spent about 25 hours trying to get this program to run.

Looks like the Sandra I had tried to post was fail. Oops. Here it goes again. And sorry for not doing it in the first place. I assure you, I'm really damn clueless about this stuff.

Problem number one which MUST be addressed, you only have one hard drive, and it just won't work this way. You need a dedicated, separate hard drive for audio. Partitioning your main drive not only doesn't count, it probably makes things worse.
