Default 64-bit memory usage

I'm running W7 64-bit with 8gb of RAM, and PT LE 8.0.4.

PT is a 32-bit application and so can't address the top 4gb of RAM. Which is a pain. But is there any way to reserve the bottom 4gb of RAM such that it's all there for PT and plug-ins to get at, leaving the top slice of RAM for Windows / other apps to use?

Windows seems to absorb the thick end of 1gb on its own and I'd rather have the headroom available for gratuitously large drum kits...

thanks for any advice

Ben

Default Re: 64-bit memory usage

As far I as know, PT should be able to access about 3.5GB's of RAM in a 64 bit OS environment. Try running some soft synths and use up 3gb's or so. That should tell you in a hurry that it is working. I am pretty sure though that you can access about 3.5gb of ram just for PT's on a W7 x64 system.
