Default Managing Midi Device Patch Names in XP

I can't get my midi device modules to show in Pro Tools, nor have I found away to manage midi device patch names in Windows XP.

I know I'm not the only person in the world who is facing this problem.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do to configure Pro Tools 5.3.1 (Windows XP) to
recognize all of the midi device modules that are properly connected to my
Emagic AMT|8 USB midi interface?

I know that SoundDiver by Emagic can manage patch names on XP, and I'm
thinking of using that, but if someone has a better suggestion, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thx guys...

Below is the WHACK response that I got back from Digidesign Customer Support when I first submitted my issue.

Hello,

Pro Tools does not handle patch names and there is no OMS on XP. There may
be a third party that can do this. However, I am not aware of any.

Best regards,

Patrick,
There is no patch name option with PT 5.3.1/XP. This has been requested by PT users many times to Digi even since the beginning of 5.1, but so far it's still unavailable. To me, it's not a huge issue, as I've grown used to the coinciding patch #'s that come with PT.
If you do find a third party option for this purpose that works with PT5.3/XP, please let us all know. -Roy

Are you actually able to SEE your e magic interface in PT?

I still have had no luck getting PT to see my MOTU Fastlane USB midi. Cubase SX sees it, but Pro Tools just refuses.

Ho hum

I have been using Sounddiver for years and it works fairly well with XP. It allows you to change patches by name rather than numbers and you can tweak all of the parameters of your midi devices.

BUT, now that Apple bought Emagic and won't be developing Windows versions of any of it's software in the future you may want to look elsewhere.

The perfect solution for me was going with Sampletank and SonicSynth. Now I don't have to worry about patch names or outboard midi gear.
I think that my Dr-770, Dm-Pro and Alesis Qs6.1 will be hitting ebay soon.

Good luck,
Marc
