Default Running Audio Cables....Help!!!

THis baffles me,

I'm new to recording, I just finished a local Tools Class here in New York...they tech you all about protools and how it works and how to record with it...but they never get into cabling and stuff...so lets say have a Amp that I'm recording downt he hall, or musicians two rooms away that need headphone mixes. How do you run the cables ? do you need like some sort of relay, to boost the signal over a cable that long, or are there extention cables? I"m seriouly confused, Please help, I have a singer coming over next week, and she will be 3 rooms down the hall...what do I do?

Thanks

Mic level signals will deteriorate over a distance. Put the pre in the same room as the vocalist (in your case). Line level signals can go quite a ways before any noticeable deterioration is heard. Run any audio cables away from power cables. If they must cross, do it at a 90 degree angle. Is this what you're looking for?
