Pro Tools Update January 2024?

Hello Avid community. I’ve had PT Studio for a couple years (novice user), usually running pretty good, but there was an update at the end of 2023 or January 2024 and it gave me PT Intro. However, Avid auto debited my credit card for $324 on Jan. 5, 2024. So, they appear to have given me the Intro (free version, very limited). Now when I open a project/session (I don’t know what the difference is btwn these) I get a message that 6 or so tracks will be deleted bc they’re not supported.

I X out of that box bc I don’t want anything deleted, but PT Intro proceeds to open the Session without those tracks. I don’t know if PT actually deleted those tracks from my hard drive; I would hope not, geeze.

In any case, I’ve submitted a ticket to Avid but have not heard back for a week. I can’t use PT right now and I’m not sure what to do. I’ve been to my Avid Link page and under Products I downloaded what they list as Pro Tools, not Pro Tolls Studio. Anyway I download that, install, and when I launch it is again, Pro Tools Intro, not Studio.

Maybe someone here knows the issue, if not I guess I’ll pay for a chance to call and get tech support. I haven’t seen the price for that. I’m glad I’m not in the middle of a project or I’d be really screwed! And for no fault of my own. Anyway, thanks ahead of time!

More than likely Intro is loading because it can't find a license for Studio.

Where is your Studio license?
Is it on a physical iLok?
Is it on iLok Cloud?
Or has it not been put in either place?

Put the Studio license on your physical ilok and plug it into your computer OR put the Studio license into iLok Cloud and open a Cloud session on your computer and you should be good to go.

The version of Pro Tools that loads is controlled by your license, so uptheoctave is correct that there is most likely and issue with your iLok. You can disable the license for Intro and see if that loads Studio. If not, you will have to check the license status for Studio and possibly move it to a physical iLok if it is not already there.

Checking your iLok account. Your Pro Tools Studio license is not activated neither on iLok cloud nor on an iLok key.

To make sure to launch Pro Tools Studio Tier, you may want to open iLok license manager and re-open your iLok cloud session on the computer you wish to use your Pro Tools.
