Grace/Amnesty Period for Pro Tools 11 Upgrade

Get a complimentary Pro Tools 11 upgrade (once it’s available) when you buy, upgrade, or crossgrade to Pro Tools 10 on or after April 7, 2013 and register your purchase."

I bought my upgrade on March 29. Just NINE DAYS EARLIER THAN THIS.

Do I seriously miss out on a free upgrade???

Sadly, yes. If you regstered the product before 7-APR that's how it goes. They need to decide on a certain date and I'm sure there are people who have bought it one day before as well.

The window is arguably too narrow. Expecting consumers to pay another $299 when they upgraded to 10 TWO WEEKS BEFORE 11 IS ANNOUNCED is entirely unreasonable.

Come on. Offering people a free upgrade only if they had bought 10 within ONE DAY of the announcement?

I'm pretty sure that making customers feel totally cheated is bad for business.

Avid, I'd like a response, please.

I would not hold my breath regarding Avid saying anything about this very soon. They have their NAB show going on, and then they need to do some market research.

But at least it cannot hurt to contact Avid directly and see if they make an exception..? I wouldn't know anything about this, but at least if I were you I would prepare a well thought out and very polite email for someone who could make a decision.

I would like to do just that, but guess who charges customers to contact them?

The only way to contact Avid is to purchase a support request.

Which I suppose I'll end up doing.

I feel for you; I still remember how it was like when I upgraded to latest Peak Pro only to find out one day later (!) that the whole software was going to be discontinued. These things happen...

I have the understanding that PT11 supports 003 family but 002 is unsupported.

Not to go sideways with this thread but imagine someone who purchased a Korg Oasys keyboard ($14K US) and then found out a week later it was discontinued?

A longer amnesty period would be nice - like maybe to Jan 1 2013?

Correct, I just read the product info.
Sigh. I'll be writing them a letter - probably be a waste of money (to buy a support ticket) but I have to try.
