No signal can't record
I have Pro Tools 9.5 and I'm working on a MacBook Pro OS 10.6. I started to record a bass track and I have it on the right channel but I'm not getting a signal nor can I record. When I take the cable out of the bass guitar and tap on the end of the cable it shows a signal but as soon as I plug it into the bass guitar I get nothing. If someone has knowledge to help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I swear I'm not trying to be a jerk by asking this question. But I always start with the simplest stuff first. Is the volume up on the bass guitar itself?
