Install problem with 8.0.3 on Windows 7/ DAE 1115 error
I'd appreciate any help with the following problem. I bought PT LE 7.3 Factory Rack 003 for Windows in 2008 from Sam Ash for $1500. I used it maybe 3 times before a family issue came up which took me completely away from recording. Fast forward to now. I'm now back in the studio and would like to use PT. I have since bought a Dell 540 desktop quad core with 6 GB of ram and 1 1/2 TB hard drive. Operating system is Windows 7. At NAMM last month a rep at Avid sent me a download of 8.0.3, the first version that he said would work with Windows 7. I did a clean download and install, but on the launch, I am running into the DAE 1115 error code every time. I have tried everything imaginable. Isin't 8.0.3 a Beta version? Therefore, shakey at best on Windows 7? The NAMM rep also sent me 8.0.5 Updater download but I can't install that until I can properly get 8.0.3 to install properly. I was an IT tech for 10 years so I know around OK on the hardware side. I have spent at least 8 hours so far on this problem. I'm a burnt out on it. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, optimizing Windows to the max, etc, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: Install problem with 8.0.3 on Windows 7/ DAE 1115 error
I would say to upgrade to PT10:
http://imsproav.com/main/Get-Pro-Too...206503400.html Main reason- it's currently supported. You are probably in for a lot of frustration and will probably have to pay for support to get your 003 rack (not made anymore) your Dell and PT 8.0.3 (almost three year old software) playing nice together. It's probably possible- but I'm worried that the system will always present problems for you. Upgrading to PT10 will have a lot of benefits- one of which it will guarantee that you get sales support from your local reputable AVID dealership. With that said- couple of things- a) The 003 is a Firewire device- does the Dell have built-in Firewire or have you installed a card? b) Have you also downloaded and updated the latest 003 drivers for Windows 7: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...n&DocType=1450 c) 8.0.3 was a beta for Windows 7 for Pro Tools (except M-Powered Essential) - good thing- you got it for nothing- bad thing it's not working so it's worth nothing to you- you get what you pay for... If you want to be using Pro tools on a modern computer I would say you want to be using a modern version of Pro Tools. If you were an IT tech for 10 years you should be aware of the pitfalls of putting old software on new computers. Feel free to contact me directly if you would like some additional direction- but honestly I will most likely try to talk you into buying PT10 from me.
