Vertical edit zoom shortcut, where / what is it?
Hi
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why none of the following commands from the reference guide work in XP SP3 running Pro Tools LE? On my machine when I press Ctrl+Alt+[ (or) ] all it does is increase / decrease waveform height. The audio zoom button does the same. Ctrl+Alt+Start+[ (or) ] does nothing. Page 450 from the User Guide: Audio and MIDI Zoom In and Out Buttons The Audio and MIDI Zoom buttons let you zoom in and out vertically on audio and MIDI data respectively. To zoom in vertically for all audio tracks, do one of the following: 1 Click the Audio Zoom In button. 2 Drag on the Audio Zoom In button to zoom continuously. 3 Press Control+Alt+] (Windows) or Command+Option+] (Mac). To zoom out vertically for all audio tracks, do one of the following: 1 Click the Audio Zoom Out button. 2 Click the Audio Vertical Zoom buttons. 3 Press Control+Alt+[ or Control+Alt+] (Windows) or Command+Option+[ or Command+Option+] (Mac). To zoom all audio vertically to show the default waveform height: 1 Press Control+Alt+Start+[ (Windows) or Command+Option+Control+[ (Mac). To zoom in vertically for all MIDI and Instrument tracks, do one of the following: 1 Click the MIDI Zoom In button. – or – 2 Press Control+Shift+] (Windows) or Command+Shift+] (Mac). To zoom out vertically for all MIDI and Instrument tracks, do one of the following: 1 Click the MIDI Zoom Out button. – or – 2 Press Control+Shift+[ (Windows) or Command+Shift+[ (Mac). To zoom MIDI vertically to show all notes (lowest to highest) in MIDI and Instrument tracks: 1 Press Control+Start+Shift+[ (Windows) or Command+Control+Shift+[ (Mac) To zoom in or out vertically for a single MIDI or Instrument track: 1 Make sure the Track View is not set to Regions. 2 Select the Zoomer tool. 3 Hold Start (Windows) or Control (Mac) and drag upwards to zoom in, or downward to zoom out. Additional Zoom Key Commands To return to the previous zoom level, do one of the following: 1 Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac) any of the Horizontal, Audio, or MIDI Zoom buttons. – or – 2 Press Control+Alt+E (Windows) or Command+Option+E (Mac). Why does Pro Tools not have a keyboard shortcut for the VERTICAL edit zoom buttons? It's just so basic. It's Ctrl up and down arrow keys for vertical zoom and Ctrl left right arrow keys for horizontal zoom in Sonar. What's so difficult about that AVID?

Quote:
If so, (for PC): Start + up/down arrow adjusts Track Height for the selected tracks Alt + Start + up/down arrow adjusts Track Height for all tracks Ctrl + Alt + Start + up arrow fits all tracks in the window

Re: Vertical edit zoom shortcut, where / what is it?
Hallelujah!
Alt+Start+ up/down arrow - I've been trying to find that for 6 months. It's nowhere in the manual. I've asked the question on this forum before an no one could help, they just told me my computer was to blame and post a Sandra report! Basically Avid needs to re write the Windows shortcuts manual. Page 22 'Zoom' mentions none of these (the first task in Horizontal zoom in / out, the very next task should be Vertical zoom in/ out wouldn't you think - navigation 101)? Question: why would I ever need to increase / decrease the waveform height? It doesn't make the audio level any higher or lower. If all my tracks are set to the same height and recorded with a decent level I should be able to see them clearly, no? Thank you for your help.

Vertical Zooming: when you are making an edit based on some low-level material (finding and eliminating some low-level noise, finding where some audio has completely stopped sounding, etc.).

Re: Vertical edit zoom shortcut, where / what is it?
I wish I lived near South Plains College, I'd be signing up for your Pro Tools course.
I was trying to go through Pro Tools 101 by myself but I think it is easier in a school environment so that there is someone to bounce questions off. Thanks again.
