Default What's your S6 powering setup?

I'm not a 'leave everything on all the time' kinda guy, and some days I don't have the desk on at all, so I turn it on when I need it.

I have its (always-on) power strip going to a multi-port UPS which is already not recommended by the UPS manual but I'm going with it. The problem is the UPS is not very accessible and my old knees are stating to hate me going under to where it is in order to turn the S6 on. I have a small 'power switch' outlet directly on that socket, but I'd like to have something easier at-hand like a remote power switch for that one UPS port that I can mount under the desk or something without having to move from the sitting desk position (kind of like the... S4 has!) I don't want to add another power strip as we're starting to get into really bad power no-nos (3 chained strips essentially), but I'm having trouble finding something appropriate for this.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for this situation..

Doesn't your powerstrip have a power switch. Just turn it off from there before the UPS. Our (standard issue) S6 came with a power strip that is cable-tied to the back frame. I can just reach under the back right of the desk and flip it off. (or more likely, flip it off and flip it back on again when I need to power cycle the whole desk)

No need to duck under the desk. Can find the power button easily with my fingers just standing next to the desk.

I use Phillips Hue Sockets.

I use two of them, one for the switch and one for everything else.
This allows me to sequence the start up so that the switch turns on about a minute or so before the rest.

It also allows me to use Hue Buttons, which I attach with dual lock under the console:
I have one for the console sequence, one for the ATC/PSI monitors, one for the studio lights and one for the modular.

Here is a short video describing it:

Please remember that you need to shut down the MTM first before powering off. FYI I use Alexa and cheap smart plugs of Amazon to turn my different surfaces on and off.

Yep, don't worry, I have seen what turning off windows machines out of nowhere does to them!

I will look into the smart plugs also.

My S6 power strip has no power switch I don't think? It's just always on. Also just following the normal install instructions its actually totally inside the case under the panels in the back sitting on the brackets. It made it sound like it was meant to be turned on/off via an external UPS.

We have the small black ones inside the covers but then also a long strip tied to the back frame bar. Maybe Westlake Pro Audio provided that one instead of Avid.
