Default MIDI Setup Problems

I NEED HELP!!

I just got the 001 and I'm trying to work with MIDI for the first time but I can't get it to work. I'm running Pro Tools on Windows ME.

I've got a Yamaha W7 version 2 tooked up to the I/O box. MIDI In to MIDI Out and visa versa. I've got the left and right audio outs pugged into the I/O inputs 3 & 4. I've got the MIDI track input set to All and the output set to Digidesign Digi 001 channel 1. The other two output device choices I have is Creative SBPCI Synthesizer, channels 1-16 and Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth, channels 1-16. When either of these is selected a synth sound comes out of my computer speakers no matter what sound I have selected on the Yamaha.

I have a stereo Aux channel setup to inputs 3 & 4 Outputs 1 & 2 but no signal is registering.

Please help a frustrated midiot!

Thanks,
Micah

For starters, maybe try pushing the Monitor Mode button on your Digi 'box'. Tell me if that does it or not, and we'll go from there.... Roy
