Groups (nesting groups)
i was reading the Pro Tools manual last night and noticed it made mention of "nesting groups within groups."
i'm familiar with how regular groups work but not too familiar with the "nesting" of groups. is this the same as submixes? if someone could give me an idea on how this works in an ideal application that would be great. |

Re: Groups (nesting groups)
I don't really use it but imagine having 6 vocal tracks - 2 lead and 4 backup. You may want a "backup vocal" group and a "lead vocal" group. You'd probably still want these all to be associated with the "Vocals" group. The first two would be subgroubs of Vocals.
Groups always bug me. I wish it would set the shortcut to the first letter of the name of the group (if available) and default to group one instead of having to navigate that tree every time. Nice to have 104 groups available but all the clicking, holding, oopsing, releasing is silly 98% of time you group something. The manual shows arbitrary shortcut naming so maybe it's just me but I can't be the only person that generally wants the Guitars to be "g", Drums to be "D", Vocals to be "V"... am I?
