Synchronizing a external MIDI device to Pro Tools
Greetings All
I'm having a bit of trouble synchronizing a external MIDI device to Pro Tools. On the MIDI device itself, the Arpeggiator is being used, which sets it's own tempo, recording this Arpeggiator MIDI Data is no problem, only when initiating playback, Pro Tools dictates the tempo, which is not the same tempo the Arpeggiator was recorded at. How do I synchronize this Arpeggio tempo to Pro Tools? filosofem

Re: Synchronizing a external MIDI device to Pro Tools
Slaving Pro Tools to external clock source can be done via S/PDIF, what if the MIDI device that I want to use for the Arpeggio (tempo and pattern) does not have S/PDIF, can this MIDI device's Arpeggiator be routed to another MIDI device that does have S/PDIF, keeping that same Arpeggio (tempo and pattern)?

Re: Synchronizing a external MIDI device to Pro To
Problem, the manual of a Roland RS 9 states,
"Arpeggios can be produced only by playing the RS 9's Keyboard. It is not possible to produce arpeggios with Note messages from the MIDI In connector" I do not have Coaxial/RCA connectors, so I can't try this, but I thought of this theoretical routing question. MIDI Out of the RS 9, to MIDI In on the V-Synth XT, MIDI Out of the XT to MIDI In on the MIDI Interface (routed to Pro Tools), Audio Output of the RS 9, to the Rear Audio Input of the XT, Coaxial Out to Mbox, thus Slaving Pro Tools. Do you think that this indirect routing would result in Pro Tools being slaved to the RS 9's Arpeggiator or will the XT block this and/or taint the Audio signal of the RS 9 with a XT Patch? Opinions/options? filosofem

Re: Synchronizing a external MIDI device to Pro To
If you slave Pro Tools (S/PDIF) to an Arpeggiator of a external MIDI device, and run ReWire say to ReDrum, will ReDrum then in turn be also slaved, (to the Arpeggiators tempo and pattern)?
