play back and selection issue

This seems like a very elementary problem but i cant figure it out. I think i have changed a preference inadvertanly. Here is what is happening


Now when i click on a track with my curser and attempt to play back, the song doesnt start where i put the curser..same with when I make a selection of an audio track.

At the top of the screen on the min:sec track there are now little symbals that look like a black ball and a black line right next to it (and they are marking where i clicked on the track, or the start and the end of the selection that I made)


This is probably a simple setting change, I just can't figure it out. Thanks!!
