Exclamation Cpu spiking

Ok, so here goes. I dont know really anything about computers. i have had my pro tools le 7 for about a year and then got the free upgrade to the 8.0 then 8.0.3 last octoberish my laptop started to cpu spike about every 12 seconds or so and it would last for about 10 seconds andthen drop back to normal. my laptop had been optimized for pro tools operation and meets and exceeds minimum requirements for operation. I could not figure out what was causing it and so i had to factory reset my laptop. that didnt help. for some reason my anti virus detected ammemory startup malfunction and it repaired it then all was perfect until 2 weeks ago. it started doing it again so i check it out the same way there seems to be nothing wrong with it in any way my windows repair says everything is fine my anti virus and spyware protection is all up to date and says im all clear. caan anyone help me?

like i said im pretty much computer illiterate so if you could dumb it down as much as possible I would GREATLY appreciate it.

thank you!

btw I was bouncing song down to disc when it happened. the song was 5:24 in length as it was when it finished the bounce but when i listen back it only had the first 1
:24 of audio on it the rest was silence. when i tried to re open pro tools and re-bounce it the file said it was creatyed with an earlier version of pro tools and could not be opened. but i had had it open five minutes before and for 3 days in a row prior. and since then it has been back to the CPU spikes.
