Hi, we just posted a video about an upcoming instrument that some here might be interested in:

That video told us very little. Didn't pique my interest one bit.

There are more details than that in the video... Physically modeled would be a strong indication about what is going on (and something completely new for us), for starters.

Sorry if you aren't interested, I figured at least some people here would be.

I'm interested. I love new technology and modeling techniques. Obviously I can't say I'd buy whatever it is based on that, but it's cool man.

Is this going to be a new bass instrument? And "physically modeled" sounds like you are not talking about samples, but instead, algorithms. If that is the case, and you can model/synthesize extremely realistic instrument tones like bass and drums, to me, that would be quite awesome, imagine the HDD space saved alone. Not to mention the increased flexibility when you are not working with an actual sample.

BUT, I have NO IDEA what this really is. You could just mean you created a new method to sample instruments. Either way, I'm interested, who doesn't like new gear?

We might be interested IF there was more to the video than what was shown. There's not one thing that piques my interest. Sorry Peter but I think, at least if this video is what we have to go on, there's damn little interest. Physical modeling - a little late to the game. Unless IK is bringing something totally new to the playing field than it'll be just another 1959 Edsel (Google that one).

Something to give Trillian a run for it's money would be good. Now if IK would model an 8 string bass - I'm not talking about 8 separate pitched strings but doubled/octaved like the lower E/A/D/G strings on a 12 string guitar. Briefly had a custom Alembic back in the day that had that. Killer sound.

There is currently no physically modeled 8-string bass but there are many bass types/models in MODO BASS which has now been unveiled.
