Once again thank u for your help! I've read your replies countless times and every thing is pushing me to upgrade to remedy my problems. I'm getting Sequoia 15.3 with the M3 chip. I'm getting the latest upgrade of PT and will just get the liscense to go with that version. I'm getting the MacBook air 15" version and the gadgets u said to use with my USB 2.0 - PT Intro wasn't free to me because I had to pay $499 to use it for 2 years. I won't get the subscriptions but just come here to learn how to add echo and those effects on Ultimate (when I get it). I backup one per year to an external 1TB drive. All the songs will b backed up and I will c if ultimate will open my 2020.12 projects. I don't mind investing in the upgrade. I just want to complete all my songs under PT and I wanted 2 come here to c if I'm doing this correctly.

Oh I wish you had come here earlier. Pro Tools Intro--again your system can't run Pro Tools Intro on your Mac. You were paying $499 for what? Pro Tools First and you were paying for Cloud storage?

Take it slowly, as you try stuff with the Ultimate license.

I would not use Avid Link if it is still installed (run the uninstaller in /Applications/Avid_Uninstallers) if you want to add the extra plugins that come with Ultimate instead of using Avid Link you can instead download the add-on plugin installers from your Avid.com account from the "My Products" section for the current version of plugin installers. Those latest plugins likely work OK with your old 2020.12 version of Pro Tools. Or personally that's something I'd just not bother with, wait until the m3 Mac to install all the optional plugins. (and if you purchase Pro Tools Studio you get basically the same extra plugins, at least for the year you have maintenance/support plan running). I'd use some time to look at those plugins and decide if you care about them or not.

Does any 1 still know Avid's intetnions to upgrade PTs to exploit the M4 or new M% chipson the Mac? I just heard from Apple that PTs is not fully fncioning with the M4 chip and Apple is schedule this autumn to release the newer Macs with the M5 chip. I need PTs to b up to part with Apple tech. My limit 4 a new Mac notebook is $6Gs.

There are multiple thread on DUC about all this. A Google search away.

e.g. https://www.google.com/search?q=%22M...3Aduc.avid.com

Just read the last few pages of some of those long theads and you'll know as much as most other folks here. Many folks are running OK on M4 Macs, many not. There is a known iLok problem with some plugin authorizations that has been resolved in a fix from iLok (I'm lost on the details, check with specific plugin vendors affected) and at least another problem that can cause asserts creating a new track for some users. That might be mitigated as simply as running under Rosetta2.

Avid does not announce release schedules/commitments. I would personally be surprised if the next version of Pro Tools does not include M4 official support. And No, I have absolutely no idea/info from Avid.
